3 Ways to Make Eyes "POP" with 1 Tool

Multiple Uses with 1 Makeup Tool

The amazing thing about makeup is that one tool can be used in multiple different ways and for different purposes than its original intention. Today's example will be a white shimmering eyeliner or an eye shadow pen. Just because these products were intended for the eyelid, doesn't mean it can't be used for other parts of your face. It's a great way to be resourceful, creative and to give your look a little "uumph."

Who can use this technique?
Perfect for Those Who Are...

Of Any Skin Tone
Constantly tired or stressed
Wish to enlargen look of eyes

Wish to brighten look of eyes

Have dark under eye areas

Want a quick boost in their look

Enjoy experimenting with makeup

Want to save money by using a tool for multiple purposes

Already have a white highlighter or sightly shimmering makeup pen

What You Will Need:
1 x Some type of White Smudge-able Eyeliner or Eyeshadow
*All items below can be found at www.PrettyandCute.com

How to Achieve This Method:

Start by applying regular eye makeup and eyebrow makeup, but hold off on the mascara.

  1. Using a white shimmering pencil or smudge-able white eyeliner that does not have much shimmer to the inner tear duct of your eye and gently smudge to blend it.
  2. Apply a small amount under the bottom eyelid near the outer corner of your eye from the middle to the end and gently smudge out to blend it with either the sponge end of your makeup tool, a brush or the pad of your ring finger. This will help to hide your under eye circles and brighten up the area.
  3. Using the same white shimmering pencil, apply a dab right at the highest part of your eyebrows aka the "arch". Using your choice of blending tool from step #3, blend outwards under the outer part of your eyebrow. Do not blend inwards.
  4. If you have a thin white eyeliner, line the inside of your lower lid, on the waterline behind your own eyeliner. This will give the illusion of larger whites to your eyes.

NOTE* Not all of these methods need to be used together! For a subtle look, use only 1-2 of these methods. Using all of them can overpower your look and make you look overdone.

Makeup for Smaller/Asian Eyes

There has always been that saying "Makeup does wonders" and for some Asian women, this is true especially when it comes to the eye region. Asians are prone to having smaller eyelids and eye areas in general, so when it comes to eye makeup, they usually wish to open and brighten the eye area if they can. Opening up the eyes doesn't just make the overall look seem more awake and brighter, but for some, its more of a self-esteem element.  On the left is of an image of a woman (user: munner83 of reddit.com) who posted her own photo onto the Internet to demonstrate a half of her face after makeup.

Most women on the particular website believed that this woman has used her makeup effectively and that it’s a powerful tool in helping her with self esteem. In one quote said “She’s so brave for opening up like that. This video made me cry because I totally know what she’s feeling. People who don’t have acne don’t know what it’s like to have your self esteem basically plummet every time you look in the mirror. I just want to give her a big hug.” (user: Random_Mochi, Reddit.com).
If you also have small eyes, want to brighten or boost your look, check out these steps:

  • Eyeshadow: Always apply a matte eyeshadow with the color that's closer or lighter to your skin tone on the entire eyelids to even out the area and making the later application of the darker color spreading smoother (otherwise spotted eyeshadows are more likely to occur). The eyeshadow color should be natural light brown to darker brown in her case.
  • Eyeliner: Apply eyeliners closer to the lash line first (will put more after the fake eyelashes laid on) on both upper and bottom liners
  • Apply False Lashes: Go over the upper liner with black eyeliner to blend in the gap. Remember to make the liners thicker at the end and thinner to the inner corner of the eyes.
  • Lip: Apply lip liner to the outer liner of the lip with the color that closer to the lip tone with a bit of peachy-pink tints; apply lip gloss to give the thin lip a more luscious look
  • Blush: Slightly brush on the apples of your cheeks with a peachy shade that is closer to your skin tone for the finished look.

Beauty Blog Tip: Perfect Nail Polish Application - No more OOPS!

Does this ever happen to you when you try to perfect your nail polish application? --> First, you would accidentally get some nail polish onto the sides of your nails on the skin. Then you would try to clean it off with a tissue, a cotton ball or worse, another polished nail which made the mess even worse?

Which scenario irritates you more when painting your nails?

1) How the cotton balls can get the fluffy fluff onto our nails and ruin the entire nail.

2) Trying to fix a nail with another polished nail, ruining that one with either extra unwanted nail polish or a chip.

No need to worry any more! We have a quick remedy/tip for all you DIY mani-pedi girls out there. All you need to do before you paint on your nail polish is use a cotton swab to apply a bit of lotion around the nail bed with a cotton swab so that your other fingers/nails don't any excess oils. Using a greasy lotion will do the best trick. You can even try petroleum jelly if you'd like.

After you have painted on your nail polish, use a wooden cuticle stick to wipe off the excess nail polish on the nail. If you don't own one of these, you can also use a cotton swab and take the cotton off one end. Flatten the stick if you'd like for easier removal of the excess nail polish. Easy as that!

Try this technique the next time you play with your nails!

Missha M Perfect BB Cream vs. Lioele BB Creams

If you're looking for a BB Cream that matches your skin tone and your preferences, we know how difficult it can be. This is why we would like to show you the swatches between two very popular and top-selling BB Creams on the market. First, the Missha M Perfect BB Cream. This BB Cream comes in 5 shades that can provide great coverage for nearly anyone.

The Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream gives an even and natural-looking coverage with the soothing, moisturizing properties of a cream. It is suitable for all skin types including acne-prone skin and can be used as a makeup base or foundation. Blemish Balm, also called BB Cream, is known to have been formulated as an after-treatment cream to help patients who have gone through laser skin surgery to soothe and regenerate the skin.

Overall Benefits: UV protection, whitens, brightens, anti-wrinkle formula, natural appearance, soothing, moisturizing, regenerates skin, comes in sanitary tube container with pump, comes in 5 shades to choose

The front side of each bottle.

The back side of each bottle.
With its pump-type tube, application is easy and sanitary!

Time for the BB Cream swatches!

*(Model is around an NC20.)
*Swatches from the lightest to the darkest shade, bottom to top of photo.

  • The first is No. #13, a fair shade perfect for those of NC20 or lighter as it has more pink and cooler undertones.
  • The next shade, No. #21 would probably suit our model best. It has warmer undertones and when blended, it is most like the model's skin tone.
  • The third one is in shade No. #23,  similar to No. #21 but a little richer in color and a tad darker but also has a warmer undertone.
  • Next, we have one of the darkest colors, No. #27. This has a lot more yellow and golden undertones that would be suitable for those who are more tan.
  • Lastly, we have the darkest of the Missha M Perfect BB Cream shades, and one of the darkest in the market! This is No. #31, suitable for those who are NC30 and up.  It has warm brown undertones.

How to figure out your undertone?

I’ve found one of the most straight-forward ways to determine your undertones is to look at the underside of your forearm: if your veins are greener, you have warmer undertones; if your veins are bluer, you have cooler undertones. What if they’re neither? or both? Never fear, it means you have more neutral undertones and kind of get the best of both worlds. Another way to tell is if you feel like you look better in warmer colors (e.g. gold) or cooler colors (e.g. silver) — some think about what kind of jewelry (either gold or silver) they prefer on themselves.

Ok, let's compare the Missha with Lioele...

In case you wish to see how the Missha M Perfect BB Cream compares to another BB Cream, we're going to compare it with the Lioele Beyond the Solution BB Cream and the Lioele Triple the Solution BB Cream, two of the most popular BB Creams on the market!

In the photo below, the 5 shades of Missha M Perfect BB Cream have been swatched, next to the Lioele BB Creams. The Lioele BB Creams seem to have more yellow and golden undertones, which is probably due to the fact Lioele is a Korean cosmetics company and as it was created in Korea, the shade that was most used was probably of more yellow undertones to suit the Asian BB cream users.

Lioele Beyond the Solution BB Cream helps to create a clean and natural skin tone by being absorbed into your skin with a soft usage. This enables speedy make-up application due to the unnecessary need to apply makeup base or foundation. Ingredients such as bisaborol, licorice root acid derivatives, allantoin, etc. soothe your skin and ingredients such as jojoba oil, macadamianut oil, hyaluronic acid derivatives, vegetable collagen, etc. keep your skin moist and smooth.

  • Adheres tightly to skin due to the fermented yoghurt component
  • Contains absolutely no organic sun block
  • Perfect protection from the sun
  • Continuous wrinkle reduction and whitening even while putting on makeup
  • Fresh and Brilliant BB Cream with no greasiness

The FULLER Lip Effect

STEP 1
Let's start with the first step. Make sure your lips are clean, oil-free and product-free. The first step is to simply take a concealer or even an eyeshadow stick that matches your skin tone and gently outline your lip area. Be sure not to make the line too thick, or else the illusion will look obvious!

STEP 2
Now we're ready for the next part. After your lips have been outlined, gently smudge the outline with the pad of your index finger. Be sure to smudge it outwards or only along the outline, not into your lips. This will make the outline look less harsh and visible.

STEP 3
Lastly, you can now fill in your lips with your favorite lip color. Using a matte lip balm or lipstick will do the best job when it comes to this illusion because the solid look will look more apparent; whereas, a lip product such as a lip gloss will draw away the look of the illusion as the gloss will be distracting.

VOILA!
There you have it. Natural looking plumped lips without any needles or extra cash spent! Finding a use for a beauty product that was intentionally designed for another purpose is great as it makes it become a multi-use product as well as saves your wallet on unnecessary procedures and/or beauty products!

What you MUST know about Lioele's Product Repackagings

Have you noticed Lioele's products being repackaged every now and then? We learned why, from Lioele's headquarters directly. The company changes up their packaging not just for more eye-appeal but also to prevent fraud sales of Lioele products to take place on the market, as they have more and more over the years while Lioele's actual products get more popular amongst the population. If you are able to get your hands on the newest designed/packaged products, you have your hands on something authentic. Why? Lioele informed us that only Lioele's official partners such as Pretty&Cute are provided with the absolute newest products. Take a look below at some re-packaging examples and see why it is so important that you know about them:

We'll show you some product comparisons...

1) At a first glance, you will probably notice that this product is the Lioele Triple Beyond the Solution BB Cream. You are correct. However, this is how it looked 5 YEARS AGO. Lioele has repackaged this best-seller product years ago to the pink packaging with a gold rim around the bottom of the cap. If you still have or have recently purchased a gold packaged one, beware as it is over 5 years old and the formula could be extremely harmful to your skin. If you have recently purchased the gold version, stay alert and cautious of the seller who is very likely to be a fraud as well.

2) The famous Lioele Water Drop BB Cream - A water drop formula that both moisturizes and covers skins imperfections has also been repackaged into a cool blue container with some of its emblems rearranged. The color on the overall packaging is a brighter sky blue and now clearly displays the name of the product as well as "SPF 27 PA ++".  This product is one of Lioele's top selling BB Creams, so be sure that you are purchasing the latest version.

3) This is the Lioele Blackhead Clear, a product that gently lifts away pore buildups without burning sensation. Helps soften white head and blackheads for a easy extraction. Based on botanical ingredients, by making hardened sebum to soft. It makes sebum to be detached naturally. Its packaging has become more distinguishable from the popular BB Cream line and has a darker magenta pink and black look to it. It also has a silver band printed on the middle of the box and container with a nose icon.

4) The Lioele Pore Clean & Tightening Pack has taken the most dramatic re-design of the bunch that has recently gone under redesign. The product now comes in a jar type container where you are able to use a scooper or finger to dispense the product. The jar is a matte black with magenta and black wording, similar to the new design of the Lioele Blackhead Clear (above). With a jar type container, it is now easier to scoop out the amount of product desired, rather than having to touch the former tube and making a mess.

5) Lioele Vita Juicy Foam Cleanser - Blueberry extract works as balancing factor of oil and moisture of the skin for fresh finish and exfoliates dead skin cells for soft skin. And Vitamins and Lioele's patented formula leaves the skin healthy and vitalized. The packaging has been redone as well and has less graphics and colors. For some, simplicity is desired but for others, colors and more vibrance is desired. Either way, this package now comes in a white squeeze tube and is a little bit larger. Same great product, just different look.

6) Sometimes, cosmetic companies will only reword their products rather than repackage it entirely. The Lioele Daily Soothing Sun Milk has been renamed to Lioele Daily Soothing Essence Sun. Other than the very slight name change, the overall look of the product is the exact same - a smooth white tube with a bright pink cap.

7) Similar to the Lioele Daily Soothing Essence Sun product (above), Lioele has only renamed the A.C. Control Scar Zero Cream to A.C. Control White Spot Cream. The product and overall packaging is the exact same, but now has a slightly different name that may be easier to comprehend.

Now you know why cosmetic companies tend to redesign and repackage their products on a frequent basis. We hope this helped you to stay alert for any false products. As Pretty&Cute is one of the few authorized Lioele distributors, we stand proud when we say that we have all of Lioele's latest and most authentic products available straight from Korea.

Why & How to Lighten Your Eyebrows

Why Lighten the Brows

If you go for a hair color change that’s more than two shades lighter than your natural color, your eyebrows are going to look a little strange compared to your new hair color. Make sure your brows keep up with your hair color by lightening them up to match! Another benefit of lightening your brows: It opens up your eyes and makes them pop. You might notice your face looking a little fresher with lighter brows as well.

Eye Shadow Colors

Although special brow powders will lighten your eyebrows effectively, you can create almost the same look with eye shadows in similar colors without having to purchase a completely different product. Try tan, light brown or taupe eye shadows to kick the color of your brows up a notch. Steer clear of shimmery or glittery eye shadows to create natural looking brows that match your own hair color.

Apply the Shadow

Brush your brows into the shape you want with an eyebrow brush. Grab an eyebrow pencil that matches the eye shadow color and outline your brows carefully first to keep them alined. Keep the lines short and light for a natural look. Now grab the eye shadow and an angled brush. Load the brush lightly and tap off any excess powder. Brush on the eye shadow, working from the inside edge to the outside edge of your brows. Keep the shadow light and blend it in well with your natural eyebrow hairs. Keep going until you finish lightening your brows to your heart’s content.
